JP Kazakhstan Mangystau

OverviewKazakhstan Mangystau Joint Programme

By placing engagement and intersectionality at the core of programme development and policymaking stakeholders of the Kazakhstan Mangystau Joint Programme were able to address socio-economic issues when modernizing the oil rich region of Mangystau, which has (in the past) been exposed to severe climatic conditions.

Together with the Government of Kazakhstan, the United Nations Country Team collaborated on sustainable, socio-economic solutions that took into account climate change issues, ending violence against women and girls, improving access to quality sexual and reproductive health, spreading child care best practices, enhancing disaster risk reduction, improving data collection and analysis, and launching policies that would reverse growing social and regional disparities in rural areas.
